Surface Meteorological Data

NCDC DS3505 Integrated Surface Data abbreviated as ISD, ISH, TD3505, DS3505 or DSI-3505 can be downloaded through the NCDC ftp site.

Once downloaded and uncompressed, the raw data files can be processed with SMERGE, creating SURF.DAT file, input to CALMET. The option JDAT = 6 should be used in SMERGE to indicate TD3505 data format of the raw data in the downloaded files.

For more information about the DS3505 data set visit: https://rda.ucar.edu/datasets/ds463.3/. TD3505 data is also available through this NCAR/UCAR link. It is possible that the user might have to register in order to get in.
